Good Morning!
Here are some heretical thoughts for you to start the day (very heretical, actually). The coffee was hot and the ideas were hotter this morning, HA!
Hope y’all have an amazing day.

"The Bible isn't the Word of God". I remember the first time I mentioned that in a blog post way back when, my Facebook messenger was lit up with all sorts of interesting feedback.
"You're leading people astray."
"I'm concerned for you."
"You're going against God."
"The Devil has a hold of your life."
On and on it went, but it's true, isn't it? I'm sure you've come across this idea before as everyone is talking about it these days. Heck, even CS Lewis once said it - the idea that the Bible isn't the Word of God, but Jesus is.
And it makes sense, doesn't it?
Because nowhere in the Bible does the Bible say that it is the "Word of God", but it most certainly does describe Jesus as "the Word of God".
The "Word of God", though, is not only more than a book, but I'm beginning to think it's also much more than a single person for "the Christ" was not only alive and well within Jesus - the Christ is also alive and well within me and within you.
I'm about to get really heretical here, but I stir up some of my best heresy over a hot cup of coffee and so here we go ...
The Universal Christ.
The Cosmic Christ.
The Christos.
The Word of God.
The Breath of God.
The Wind of God.
The Divine.
The Spirit of God.
Call it what you will, but I believe that the spark of the Divine has been planted deep within all of us and is pulsating through our veins right here and right now.
Yes.
Although we may not always act like it, there is a sense of Divinity within us all as each and every one of us has been made in the image of God; and so (perhaps!) the goal of our lives then isn't that ...
We get our sin under control.
OR.
Believe the right things about Jesus.
OR.
Say the Sinner's Prayer.
OR.
Get that ticket to heaven.
... But that we awaken more and more each and every day to who we truly are at the deepest part of ourselves and begin to live our lives more and more from that very Divine place.
Doesn't awakening to that and living like that sound like Good News?
In Jesus, I think, God came to wake us up - to remind us who we are and to show us (once and for all!) how to live as the fully alive human beings of love, grace, inclusion, etc. that we have been created to be.
Indeed - for a long time many branches of the Church have trapped the Word in the pages of the Bible and have (dare I say!) even trapped the Word within the body of Jesus; but that Word has liberated itself beyond our boxes and is delivering peace as a person ... within YOU and within ME.
May we awaken to it today.
(** NOTE: the quote in the image is from Anita Grace Brown's book "Kamikaze Yogi", but the ideas in this post don't necessarily reflect her own (although they may, I'm not sure). When I share something from a book, these Coffee Thoughts aren't so much about me telling you what an author says in their book or whatever, but about me sharing with you what kind of ideas that their ideas create within me.)
